Accountability & Transparency

Trust Must Be Earned

Every donation represents trust.

Every humanitarian intervention creates responsibility toward the people it is intended to serve.

At Salam Horizon, accountability means seeking to make responsible decisions, use charitable resources carefully, protect people from harm, document our work, and remain open to learning and improvement.

Responsible Stewardship

We seek to ensure that charitable resources are:

  • Used for legitimate organizational purposes

  • Properly authorized

  • Appropriately documented

  • Monitored throughout implementation

  • Subject to suitable financial controls

Program Accountability

Programs should have clear objectives, budgets, implementation plans, responsibilities, and monitoring arrangements.

We seek to distinguish clearly between:

planned outputs and verified results.

Transparency in Our Communications

We do not want humanitarian communications to overstate what we have achieved.

Statistics, beneficiary figures, financial information, and project results should be published only when they have an appropriate basis.

Where estimates are used, they should be identified as estimates where material.

Partner Accountability

Implementing partners may be subject to:

  • Due diligence

  • Written agreements

  • Financial requirements

  • Program reporting

  • Safeguarding requirements

  • Compliance checks

  • Monitoring

  • Reassessment based on risk

Safeguarding

People have the right to receive humanitarian assistance without exploitation, abuse, harassment, or coercion.

Our safeguarding and child protection frameworks establish expectations for personnel and partners and provide channels for reporting concerns.

Complaints & Feedback

Accountability requires listening.

Donors, beneficiaries, partners, personnel, and members of the public may raise concerns or provide feedback through our established channels.

Zakat Accountability

Zakat is treated as a restricted religious trust.

Under our 100% Zakat Policy, the full amount designated by a donor as Zakat is allocated to Zakat, while applicable processing and administrative costs are covered through non-Zakat resources.

Financial Transparency

As Salam Horizon develops its operating history, we intend to make appropriate organizational and financial reporting available through our Reports section.

Reports module:
Annual Reports
Financial Statements
Impact Reports
Program Reports

Only publish documents that actually exist and have been formally approved.

Our Commitment

Transparency does not mean claiming perfection.

It means establishing responsible systems, communicating truthfully, acknowledging challenges, correcting mistakes, and continuously strengthening how we serve.

Your trust is an Amanah.
